Clowntown
Penny didn’t look happy when I turned up at her doorstep after dark. It wasn’t just that I was late and the food had gone cold – I’d brought a clown with me.
‘I thought you were mad before, Kitty, but now you’ve really lost it!’ Penny said as she invited us in. She wouldn’t let anyone sleep in the car, although it might have been more comfortable than her mice-infested mattress.
